Mark Barr
Mark Barr was an American mathematician who, according to Theodore Andrea Cook, in about 1909, gave the golden ratio the name of phi (ϕ), the first Greek letter in the name of Phidias, the Greek sculptor who lived around 450 BC.〔, reprinted in 1979 by Dover Publications, New York, ISBN 0-486-23701-X.〕 Barr was a friend of mathematician William Schooling, who was also mentioned in Cook's book in relation to the golden ratio.〔 ==References== 〔
